Who Does Surrogacy Help?

As a full-service surrogacy agency, we here at Circle offer our surrogates and parents nearly 30 years of the highest level of expertise, experience, and dedication helping all types of families grow. Many of us here at Circle have either been surrogates or have benefited from surrogacy to help build our own families.

Surrogacy is not intended for one type of person, situation, or family. It can help so many different kinds of people who cannot, for whatever reason, have a baby on their own. Because we know firsthand how incredible the surrogacy journey is, we are here to educate, guide, and lead our surrogates and parents through every step.

If you're wondering whether surrogacy is the right option for your family-growing plan or thinking about becoming a surrogate, here are some situations in which surrogacy might be the right option!

Couples Experiencing Infertility

Surrogacy is absolutely an option for couples experiencing infertility. Surrogacy is for couples with same-sex infertility. It is for women with infertility, and it is for couples with unexplained infertility. Couples struggling with male infertility can use surrogacy, though it might not be the first option.

Male Infertility

Heterosexual couple struggling with male infertility can use a surrogate if that is what suits their family planning the best. The couple can use a male sperm donor to help create an embryo with the female parent's egg. This embryo can then be implanted into the surrogate's uterus and carried to term. Couples who suffer from male infertility also have the option to use a sperm donor and conceive via IUI or IVF. It wholly depends on their needs and doctors' recommendations.

Female or Unexplained Infertility

Heterosexual couples who suffer from unexplained infertility or female infertility can also benefit from and use surrogacy to have their own children. Sometimes, despite having viable, healthy eggs, women cannot get or stay pregnant. Surrogacy becomes a lifeline for them. Their healthy eggs can be retrieved and fertilized with their husband's sperm. The embryos can be implanted into a surrogate who has already proven to carry and have successful pregnancies.

Women Affected by Certain Medical Conditions

Some women might consider having a child via surrogacy if they have had a hysterectomy. While hysterectomies remove a woman's uterus and make it impossible for her to get pregnant on her own, she may have viable eggs in her ovaries. Therefore, women who have undergone hysterectomies can still have biological children via surrogacy.

Similarly, women might have other medical diagnoses, such as cancer, genetic defects, or other health conditions, that make surrogacy an optimal consideration for them.

LGBTQ+ Couples

Same-sex, transgender, and non-binary couples can also opt to use surrogacy. Perhaps two women in a relationship would prefer a third-party carrier for various reasons. Maybe neither one can carry a baby to term or conceive via IUI or IVF. Perhaps neither one would like to carry a baby, but they want to have biological children. For various reasons, surrogacy might be the best option for same-sex female couples.

As for two men, surrogacy is a necessity if they would like to be biologically related to their child. They would use one of the father's sperm to inseminate a donated egg and implant the embryo into a surrogate.

In short, surrogacy can help a variety of couples in various situations. It is an amazing choice for people who need assistance to achieve their dream families. Read the inspiring story of Circle's first single gay dad
