Get to know our process of becoming a parent with Circle Surrogacy & Egg Donation and how surrogacy works, so you can fulfill your dreams of growing your family.
The first step is to start with a complimentary consultation with our parent intake team (some of whom are parents through surrogacy themselves!) We'd love to hear your story and what brought you to surrogacy and/or egg donation. On our end, we’ll work to demystify how surrogacy works and walk you through the details of the Circle Surrogacy process.
All prospective parents—whether you're a couple or a single individual, heterosexual or LGBTQ+, domestic or international—begin with a consultation that lasts approximately 2-3 hours. This complimentary consultation allows you to share your story and what brought you to surrogacy, and to get a better understanding of how surrogacy works, and the surrogacy process at Circle. Prior to the consultation, you'll complete a questionnaire that will assist us in tailoring information to meet your specific needs. Consultations occur via Skype, in our Boston office, or in one of the major cities on our travel schedule.
During these consultations, you'll meet with a process consultant and an attorney from Circle Surrogacy to review our programs and options, including the detailed process of matching with an egg donor and/or a surrogate, legal implications, insurance details, surrogacy costs and basic medical information.
Circle Surrogacy has legal contacts in many countries and in nearly every U.S. state. We understand what's needed for LBGTQ+ and heterosexual intended parents to go home with their legal rights as fully secure as possible. Our process is designed to make sure that every intended parent gets matched with a surrogate from a state where they can obtain whatever is necessary for their safe return.
If you choose Circle Surrogacy as your partner in your journey, you’ll be introduced to your Program Coordination Team, who will guide you through every phase of the process. If you wish to proceed with Circle Surrogacy after your complimentary consultation, you'll sign an Agreement for Services. Once the Agreement is executed, you'll be assigned a Journey Coordination Team, who will guide you through every phase of the process. In addition to being your primary contacts for the process, your Program Coordination (PC) team is also responsible for all the logistics involved with scheduling medical screenings, monitoring the IVF retrieval and transfer for your surrogate and egg donor (if applicable).
As your journey progresses, you and your PC team will be communicating on a regular basis. We encourage this constant communication because it helps you stay involved and aware throughout every phase of your journey.
During this stage you'll begin working with your Program Coordination team to choose an IVF clinic (if you don't have one), an egg donor (if needed) and a gestational surrogate.
The matching process is the first stage of your journey and begins with an initial call or video call with your Program Coordination team to choose an IVF clinic and an egg donor (if needed). The next step is to find an appropriate match with a gestational surrogate who's completed our comprehensive screening process. The average time frame for completing a match with a donor, clinic and surrogate varies; it's best to fill out a form and speak with a Parent Intake Associate about your journey and timing.
Once your surrogate is medically cleared and ready for her transfer, you will have your embryo transfer. If she becomes pregnant, during the 6th-7th week of pregnancy you'll experience the excitement of baby's first heartbeats. Expect to hear from your Program Coordination Team more frequently as they contact and prepare the hospital for your surrogate birth.
This stage begins upon the official confirmation of heartbeat by ultrasound during the 6th-7th week of pregnancy and lasts until delivery. Your Program Coordination team will be in contact with you throughout your journey, most notably after the confirmation of heartbeat and around the time of the 10-week and 20-week ultrasounds. Our legal team will also begin its work following the 20-week ultrasound.
As soon as a heartbeat is confirmed, you'll receive our Pregnancy Packet filled with information and instructions for this next stage of your journey. Additionally, your PC will contact the hospital 1-2 months prior to delivery to prepare the hospital for a surrogacy birth. At this time, the legal team will coordinate the completion of the legal documentation for your baby or babies.
The most anticipated stage of the journey that may feel like an end, but is simply a new beginning for you, your baby and surrogacy team. We work out all the legalities while you snuggle and love your new baby. Our legal team will work within the most current laws of the state of birth, as well as international laws, in order to ensure that your journey ends with the required documentation for your home state or country. We'll guide you through the legal work prior to the birth and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you might have.
For our domestic parents, you may be able to travel home within a day or two of the release from the hospital. For our international parents, it's often estimated that you'll need to remain in the state of birth for approximately two to four weeks after the child is discharged from the hospital.
If you're ready to apply to become a parent – or if you just have questions about Circle or the surrogacy process – our experienced team is here for you.
I guess when you wait so long for something, you simply appreciate it all the more. We have been supported brilliantly by Circle over the last few years and want to thank everyone for the professionalism, friendship, encouragement and belief you have given us. Brett has picked us up from some pretty dark places and been more than a tower of support. What once seemed an incomprehensible process has been patiently explained by Kate and Jen despite our endless questions. We can only imagine the paperwork, record keeping, logistics etc to get this all to work so thanks to all for making this painless for us. You are all dream makers.
Having gone through the surrogacy journey twice, with two different surrogacy agencies, Circle Surrogacy surpassed our wildest expectations. Their staff was attentive, responsive, and so sincere...One of the best things we enjoyed about Circle was their Fixed Cost Program, which allowed us to make one financial transfer. That alone alleviated so much stress and confusion. I can't recommend this agency enough for all LGBTQ folks!
I was thankful every day that I went with Circle. I always felt everything was under control and being done in the best interest of my unborn child. It all worked out beautifully. Not to mention work done by Amanda as the C-section date approached. The hospital wanted to have me wait in the parking lot while the C-section was being performed, but I received a call from the VP of Patient Care at the hospital apologizing to me and saying that I could sit in the waiting room and that my surrogate, her husband and my new baby all could meet together in the hospital (previously they had said my surrogate and I could not meet). I think the pandemic and the unplanned complications showed me without a doubt of how important the agency selection is.
We are grateful to have chosen Circle. You were so unbelievably professional the entire time, and smoothed out every detail. You’re running a wonderful, competent and trustworthy organization, and we could not be more appreciative. Thank you for all that you do, and for helping us bring our family from potential to reality!
We are so thankful that we found Circle as this has been the BEST experience ever! You all have done an amazing job from start to finish and we are so grateful for everything you guys have helped us with during our journey. I sensed that you genuinely cared about us and loved how available you were when I needed to chat. We will absolutely recommend Circle to anyone in need of your services.
Words cannot begin to describe what our gestational carrier did for us, and what Circle made possible. It is a rollercoaster of new feelings and emotions and holding our little girl for the first time yesterday is beyond compare and life changing. Thank you, and thank you all of the Circle staff! You have been more than supportive at every step of the way. I hope you understand that these few sentences do not do justice to how appreciative we are…at all!
