We Make Parenthood Possible

What Is Surrogacy?

Surrogacy is a method of assisted reproduction where intended parents work with a gestational surrogate who will carry and care for their baby(ies) until birth. Intended parents use surrogacy to start or grow their families when they can't do so on their own.

Surrogacy Definition

By definition, surrogacy is the process or arrangement of someone giving birth for someone else. Gestational surrogacy helps those who are unable to have children become parents.

How Does Surrogacy Work?

Surrogacy is a process that requires medical and legal expertise, as well as a strong support process throughout the journey. Those who explore surrogacy to have a child are often referred to as Intended Parents (IPs).

Through IVF, embryos are created in a lab at a fertility clinic. Sometimes the intended parents use their own genetic material. Sometimes, an egg donor is required. At the fertility clinic, 1-2 embryos are implanted into a gestational carrier, who carries the baby(ies) to term.

Who Uses Surrogacy to Build Their Families?

Surrogacy allows couples and individuals from a variety of backgrounds, ages and sexual orientations to build their families.

Intended parents who use surrogacy include:

Heterosexual couples who have struggled with infertility

Gay and Trans parents, as well as other members of the LGBTQIA+ community

Intended mothers who are unable to carry a child

Intended parents who have a genetic defect or health condition they don't want to pass onto the child

Each surrogacy journey is unique, and we are proud to have helped grow so many amazing families in the United States and around the world.

How We're Different

Our people and our programs make the difference.

We understand—firsthand, for many of us—that bringing a baby into the world through surrogacy is an exceptionally special, and complex, journey. That’s why our team includes social workers and lawyers, intake associates and accountants, program managers and coordinators, all working across specialized teams to help parents and surrogates navigate all aspects of the journey together.

More than that, as a leading agency made up of parents, former surrogates and egg donors, our personal expertise gives us the insight to create a variety of programs to fit the needs of as many families as possible, complete with unlimited matching, experience with diverse communities and long-term support plans.

Our experienced team carefully hand selects intended parents and surrogates whom we believe will make the greatest impact on each other’s lives. These meaningful matches are made by getting to know our parents and surrogates – their stories, their needs and their preferences – and pairing it with our deep understanding of what makes a successful match.

Our matching specialists have successfully matched over 1,800 sets of intended parents and surrogates. They get to know each and every parent and surrogate and will recommend the right match by balancing the below criteria:

Personality

Preferences on the level of communication, number of embryos to transfer and views on termination

Legal and location information

Once a match is mutually agreed upon by all parties, Circle encourages intended parents and surrogates to be open to sharing themselves with each other to strengthen their bond throughout their journey together…and beyond.

How Much Does a Surrogate Cost?

Surrogacy costs are based on a variety of factors but typically include agency and legal fees, screening costs, your surrogate’s expenses, and insurance. Most intended parents can expect to pay between $100,000 and $200,000 for their surrogacy journeys. Of those costs, $55,000 to $70,000 or more are surrogate expenses.

"It truly is amazing that this whole journey has gone so well. It has changed our lives forever and there is no possible way to say thank you for a gift like this. Thank you Circle for making this possible and for making dreams come true for (former) childless couples like us!"

Anne and Tommy

"Having gone through the surrogacy journey twice, with two different surrogacy agencies, Circle Surrogacy surpassed our wildest expectations. Their staff was attentive, responsive, and so sincere...One of the best things we enjoyed about Circle was their Fixed Cost Program, which allowed us to make one financial transfer. That alone alleviated so much stress and confusion. I can't recommend this agency enough for all LGBTQ folks!"

Happy New Dads

"I just wanted to let you know that I love your focus on the relationship-based approach and the personalized support. This is so true to my values as well. I feel soooo fortunate to have been working with you to have my little family."

Vibeke

"I couldn't have asked for a better journey being a first time surrogate. You guys also nailed the personality matching. We are so similar and we've gained life-long friends and we are already planning our trip to Norway to visit the Baby for her first birthday!"

Lauren

"Having Circle Surrogacy as a partner is in one word “seamless”. When I see the surrogate is from Circle or the intended parents are working with them, I know that they are in good hands. Their 360 model of care makes working with them effortless and you truly feel you have a partner in the medical journey."

Daniel Skora, MD FACOG

"Over the years I’ve learned to count on the Circle leadership team as mentors in the surrogacy and IVF space…And for me personally, my husband and I grew our family through surrogacy with Circle. And back then, there weren’t that many surrogacy agencies that would not only be open and excited to work with gay men, but to work with HIV positive gay men. I’m also proud of our partnership with Circle to produce GWK Academy, our platform to help gay, bi and trans men become dads. I look forward to continued partnership with Circle Surrogacy."
