VIDEO: The Importance of Your Support System During Your Surrogacy Journey
"It’s been nice to work with my friends and they’ve wanted to be part of my life
and experiencing this with me" - Gina, Circle Surrogate
Gina, a Circle Surrogate from Los Angeles, discusses her motives to become a surrogate, and how her family and close friends make up her close-knit support system.
Personal support systems, like family and friends, play an incredibly important role in the surrogate’s journey. Often, as in Gina’s case, relationships with friends or family members who are unable to conceive on their own spark an initial interest into the possibility of becoming a surrogate in the first place.
When a potential surrogate makes the decision to move ahead, her support system becomes an invaluable asset as she navigates the emotional and practical aspects of the surrogacy process. The interest and care of friends and family members is rewarded by how much there is to learn witnessing the many phases of the surrogate’s journey. As Gina says, ‘all of my friends have been really supportive and they’re all just very curious and very interested. I think it’s educated them about a lot of alternatives.’
