Controlling Costs
John started his program with the intent of keeping costs down, in order to make surrogacy an afford-able alternative to private adoption. This page will give you an idea of the estimated costs of using our services for the most elaborate program we have, Gestational Surrogacy plus fresh Egg Donation, and assuming the surrogate does not have applicable insurance for maternity and delivery.
-
Gestational Surrogacy Program Options:
The cost for gestational surrogacy, including all agency fees, attorneys' fees, screening and surrogate fees (but excluding medical and insurance costs) range from around $58,000 to $73,000
, depending the program chosen by our clients. These program vary in the source of the egg donation, IVF insurance coverage, legal needs and other circumstances. Total program costs including medical and insurance components range from around $85,000 to $126,000 for egg donor surrogacy. Optional components can add 5-10%
to
the costs, and we also suggest that clients allow for 10-15% possible variable and costs above their standard program estimates, to allow for unforeseen developments, as detailed in the " other costs for consideration" page.
- Egg Donation
The cost for egg donation only, including agency and legal fees, are estimated at $14,750.

ESTIMATED PROGRAM EXPENSES FOR GESTATIONAL SURROGACY with Egg Donation: Baby Guarantee: 3 tries or fee refund (2010 - USA)
We are excited to introduce a unique and unprecedented program: The "Guaranteed Baby” Program. This program guarantees that a client, who follows the program guidelines, will have a baby within three attempts or their money back. The plan is offered in conjunction with Connecticut Fertility Associates (CFA), our premium fertility center.
This is how it works: Circle and CFA will charge an additional $15,000 (combined) over their normal fees. The prospective parents will undergo an egg donation cycle with an approved donor of their choosing. If the first cycle fails, there will be no extra fees charged for up to two additional retrievals and transfers, or if a new donor or carrier is needed. If you are not successful by the third try, all fees paid (except for out of pocket expenses – such as medications, travel and donor fees) will be refunded
(for a total of 60-70% of overall costs).
Many people would like to know with more certainty how much the overall costs of the process will be. The "Guaranteed Baby" plan offers a way to control such contingency costs and even minimize their exposure in the very unlikely case they do not have a baby at the end. However - we are so confident in our services and of that of our key partner clinic, that we are the first agency in the world to stand behind our services with an offer like this. And best of all, the cost for this program is less than many other agencies charge for a single cycle! Read below for complete details.

Other Cost Considerations
[1] * means the item is refundable
[2]
The guarantee works with Connecticut Fertility Associates only. It works as follows: For an extra charge of $10,000 for
clinic services, and $5,000 for agency services, CT Fertility and Circle Surrogacy will agree to provide three transfers of
either fresh, frozen embryo, shared cycle or frozen eggs. The first transfer is always done with fresh eggs from a medically
pre-approved donor from CT Fertility or Circle Surrogacy. If Intended Parent(s) are not successful on the first try, and there
are remaining frozen embryos, they may use those embryos if medically recommended, or if not medically recommended,
they may choose either a cycle with ten fresh or frozen eggs from a medically approved donor. If they are not successful after
the second try, then they will be required to choose a previously successful donor for either another shared cycle or frozen
egg cycle, based on medical advice. There are no charges from Circle Surrogacy or CT Fertility for finding a new donor or
carrier, should one become unavailable or be deemed medically or psychologically unfit. However, additional charges for
screening and payments to the donor and/or carrier, and medications will apply.
If the Intended Parent(s) still have not achieved a pregnancy (defined by a fetal heartbeat detected by ultrasound) after the
third treatment cycle, all agency fees and fertility center professional fees (marked by asterisk) will be refunded. In addition,
all remaining funds in the trust fund will be returned. If they have had a heartbeat detected by ultrasound in one of the first
three tries but for any reason the carrier still does not go on to deliver a baby, then they have the opportunity to undertake a
fourth cycle, of which they must avail themselves, before funds will be refunded. This fourth try must also be of a shared or
frozen egg cycle with a proven donor. If this fourth cycle is unsuccessful, the agency fees, fertility center fees and sums in
the trust fund that are asterisked above will be refunded.
In accepting this plan, the Intended Parent(s) should be aware that they will be out of pocket some monies if they proceed
along this path and a baby does not result. These include payments related to the surrogate or donor, and other third party
expenses. They will have paid for all applicable egg donor's fee, they will have paid for any travel involved, they will have
paid for the carrier's transfer fees and her monthly allowance, and they will have paid for any other out of pocket expenses
such as screening tests, medications and local monitoring. It is estimated that there should be an approximate 60-70% return
of funds.
[3] If a donor is from the CT Fertility then the entire $3500 will be refunded. If she is a donor who originated from Circle Surrogacy or elsewhere and has required local monitoring at an off-site clinic, then only $1500 is refundable.
[4] Insurance is one of the charges that is most variable. US domestic intended parents are required to purchase insurance for the surrogate. At this time, the company that we recommend offers 3 policies, all of which have an enrollment fee of $1,050. The policies' premiums vary with the lowest premium being $5,000, the mid-level policy having a $7,000 premium and the high-level policy having a $10,900 premium. All of the policies provide complications coverage for up to $500,000 and have deductibles ranging from $15,000 for the high-level policy to $45,000 for the low-level policy. Some of the deductible will need to be set aside during the pregnancy, the amount of which will be determined by the policy, but typically an amount between$15,000 to $18,000 for one child. Since the typical medical expense for a single child is $10,000, a large portion of the deductible should be returned in most cases.
[5] This is the total of all charges that are expected and the number that clients should consider as the likely minimum charges for your "Baby Guarantee" egg donor surrogacy program. Anyone coming into the program should be prepared for 5 to 10% above this number since travel (for the carrier or donor) and twins are common occurrences and can substantially add to this number. To account for this, we collect a $3,000 advance on travel expenses These are only used if needed, and will be returned
if not. As they are simply advances on some of the potential contingent expenses, they are not separately identified above or below.
†Total payments to donors in excess of $5,000 require justification and sums above $10,000 are not appropriate; Circle Surrogacy complies with ASRM guidelines for egg donation compensation.
