Celebrating Circle Surrogacy’s 150th Baby:

Gay Dads, Surrogate Mothers, and the Children they carried met for a First Reunion in NYC

On September 11th, an unusual group met in New York for a special event. As a growing number of gay couples form families with the help of egg donors and surrogates, Circle Surrogacy, a leading surrogacy agency celebrated the birth of its 150th baby with a reunion party. In attendance were more than a dozen NY City gay families formed through surrogacy, along with some of the surrogates, medical staff, and the agency people who helped make all this possible. While several of the children attending were 5-10 years old, most were infants and toddlers, reflecting the “gaby boom” of the last few years.

The attendance of several surrogate mothers, one of whom flew in especially for the event from Indiana, is evidence of the special relation often forged between them and grateful gay parents. One of the surrogate moms, Bonnie Davis, a mother of three and also a three time surrogate, is presently six months pregnant with twin boys for a gay man in the program. Several of the couples at the event had multiple children carried by the same surrogate; two couples had twins from eggs donated by one partner's sister and sperm from the other.

The event was also rare opportunity for Dr. Michael Doyle of Connecticut Fertility Associates to meet some of the children he helped create through IVF. CT Fertility has become one of the leading top-rated clinics who agreed to special protocols and guidelines developed by Circle Surrogacy to suite the unique needs of gay prospective parents.

The president of Circle Surrogacy, John Weltman, who is also a dad through surrogacy, attended the event with his 9 and 11 years old boys.
