Throughout October, Circle Surrogacy is celebrating #1500circlebabies by highlighting the amazing stories from our own employees, many of whom have participated in surrogacy journeys as surrogates or intended parents. Minette, one of our Program Coordinators, shares her story as surrogate. Minette gave the ultimate gift to her Intended Father by bringing babies #141 and #142 into the world.
Minette shares her surrogacy story with Circle:
Back when I was a surrogate, there was no Skype! Plus, the Intended Father was in Afghanistan, so we had to coordinate a time to talk on the phone. When we spoke, we talked and laughed and bonded for an hour and a half! When I checked in with Circle, my coordinator laughingly told me that most people talk 10 or 15 minutes the first time. That’s when I knew my IP was the one for me.
When the day for the birth of the babies (I was carrying twins!) came, it was a huge relief. I had to be helicoptered to Dallas, while my family and the Intended Father drove like crazy to get there as quickly as possible. It was Superbowl Sunday, and the OR was filled with people talking about the game and seeking updates…even as the babies were being born! For the four days I stayed in the hospital, everyone referred to me as “The Superbowl C-section”.
Looking back, there is no way you can fully imagine how being a surrogate will impact your life and the lives of the people around you. If I meet a woman who is considering surrogacy, I would tell her that if you are considering it, and then you don’t do it, it is the sort of thing that you will always regret not exploring.
Being able to give someone this incredible, unfathomable gift will change you in the most amazing ways, and will open doors for you for the rest of your life. Do it!
