Jennifer's letter: My experience as a surrogate mother for a gay couple from Israel

Jennifer, a Circle surrogate mother from Tennessee, had just given birth to Talia, daughter of a gay couple from Israel. Jennifer and her IPs forged a close bond, and she was invited with her husband to visit the expecting couple in Israel during the pregnancy. With the completion of her (first) surrogacy journey with the couple, Jennifer expressed her feeling in the following letter...

Dear John,

I wanted to let you know what a tremendous experience I just had being a surrogate mom.  I'm so glad I found Circle, the friendly and amazing staff you have, and especially the lifelong friends I've made because of this incredible journey.

Being a surrogate mom is the coolest thing I've ever done.  I feel like I could do anything now...except skydiving!!  I loved being pregnant again, and I loved knowing that my friends were getting a precious and much-wanted little girl who was spoiled rotten and very much loved before she was even born.  My family loved her too, but in a much different way than her dads.  We were just so happy to see their faces light up at the thought of her, when they spoke of her, or when they saw the many ultrasound pictures of her sweet little face and her little tiny toes.

Thank you so much for matching me with the most amazing people.  I truly love them, and I know we will continue to stay in contact always.  My experience with an international couple (Israel) has made my life so much more full than it already is.  My husband and I had the pleasure of visiting our friends in Tel Aviv in March.  I can honestly say that Israel was not on my "top ten" list of places I most wanted to visit in this lifetime, but now I can definitely put it on my "top ten" list of places I have to visit AGAIN in this lifetime.  It was amazing!  Not only did I get to know my friends better, but I saw the beautiful city their daughter would call home, I met her grandparents, cousins, aunts, and uncles, and I met all the friends she would have when she came home.  What a cool thing for a surrogate!!  Tel Aviv is beautiful, friendly...so friendly, and safe.  I never felt threatened by anything or anyone while I was there.  My husband and I can't wait to go back and take our three kids to see our friends and their little girl.

I only have great things to say about being a surrogate, and I can only hope that everyone has the same feelings as I do.  Thank you again for "starting" a beautiful friendship that will remain and hopefully grow stronger in the years to come.
